Fall is upon up and that its means prime time for Marathon Season. I run marathons in the spring and fall, but fall is diffidently my favorite time to run marathons mainly because we don’t have to train in the brutal cold temps of the winter leading up to race day.
But with summer training and long races, comes the need for proper hydration as well as adequate energy supplements. I have teamed up with Gatorade Endurance and will be using the Gatorade Endurance Thirst Quenching Powder and Endurance Energy Gels to train and to race this fall.
Gatorade Endurance Formula Thirst Quencher is a specialized sports drink, designed to meet the demands of endurance athletes. Compared to other athletes, endurance athletes are non-stop and lose electrolytes faster. Per 12 Oz serving, Gatorade Endurance Formula contains 90 calories, 310mg of sodium (twice as much as regular Gatorade), 140mg of potassium (3 times as much as traditional Gatorade) and 22g of carbs. There are also no artificial flavors and list light on taste (one of my favorite things about Gatorade Endurance).
The Gatorade Endurance Energy Gels provide 20g of carbohydrates and is really able to swallow compared to other gels that I have tried in the past. The gels were specifically formulated for the needs of endurance athletes. These gels should be consumed shortly before or during prolonged training or racing (2.5 hours+). One serving of Gatorade Endurance Gels provides 20 grams of carbohydrates, 100mg of sodium, and 80 calories.
The combination of the Gatorade Endurance Gels and Endurance Thirst Quencher provides all that I will need to go after my marathon goals this fall. My goal race for this fall is the Monumental Marathon on November 9th in Indianapolis, IN. Leading up to race day, I will be using both of these Gatorade Endurance products in my training to get me ready for race day. My goal for Monumental Marathon is to run a 3:10 marathon. Lately I have been struggling to his this time and I would love to get back to it this fall.
