Preparing Myself for FOMO

This weekend is the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon (UBHM). Last year was my first year running this event in Louisville Kentucky and had planned to return for the 2017 event.  However, when the school calendars came out for this year, my kids fall break and my wife’s fall break did not line up on the same weekend, so it made it impossible to make the trip this year.

So, what do I have FOMO ( fear of missing out) about and why you should still register (today is last day for online registration)? Where do I start?

  1. Louisville itself: there is a lot to do in Louisville.  There really is a lot to do in the city.  Some of the things we did last year including stopping by the Louisville Slugger Factory,  and Louisville Zoo (Take your kids trick or treating). Other attractions include Church Hill Downs4th Street Live and Cherokee Park (which is on the course).  Also, let’s not forget about the Bourbon Distilleries
  2. The Course.  This really isn’t a PR type course but it is a beautiful course, especially when you take in the fact that the fall leaves are starting to appear.  Cherokee Park is for sure my favorite part of the course. You have got to check out the Course.
  3. SWAG.  Have you seen the medals and shirts? Also, let’s not forget about the Bourbon Walk where you can pick up more SWAG following the race!
  4. Lastly, meeting new BibRave Pros

Really, this is a top notch race with an awesome race director.  I got a chance to speak quickly with Michael after the Chicago Marathon and he said registrations are up this year and it looks like this year will be better than ever. After the race, make sure to go to the Jim Bean Urban Stillhouse to get your name, and official time etched into a bottle of Jim Beam Bourbon (for purchase of course).  And if you need some ideas of how to use that bourbon (other than drinking) check out my friend Angie Berka’s blog for bourbon recipes.

Today is the last day to register for the 2017 Urban Bourbon Half! Register today and use code BourbonRave2017 to save 10% on your registration fees!
