If you have been reading my blog over the past year, I am a big fan of compression. I love compression tights, shorts, socks and sleeves. I love the way they feel around your legs and how they make my legs feel fresher during a difficult run or race. I am a firm believer in compression. A few months ago, I was introduced to Legend Compression Socks for the first time, and now, I am trying their compression leg sleeves for the first time. The motto of Legend is “Right, not tight.” If you have ever tried on a pair of Legend, than you know what I mean. They are not as tight around your calf’s as other compression brands are, but at the same time, still provide the benefits of compression.
The mission of Legend is to “Improve the performance and health of every athlete-from the casual jogger to the competitive triathlete, helping them maintain healthy legs & reach the LEGENDARY goals they are striving towards. Our sports compression performance socks, leg sleeves and recovery socks are designed with you in mind so you can perform at your best.” Here is some of the basics on what you should know about Legend Compression Leg Sleeves:
- Graduated Compression for increase athletic performance
- Greater power output
- enhanced endurance
- Targets the shin and calf for support
- increase oxygen levels and blood circulation
- Reduce muscle fatigue, exertion and soreness
- faster recovery time
- Promotes healing
- moisture wicking
I wore the Legend Compression Calf Sleeves on speed workouts, long runs, and during the F3 Half marathon last weekend in Chicago. While I felt the great benefits of the socks on each of these runs, I think I just prefer having the full sock rather than just the sleeves. I prefer the feel of the sock. But that doesn’t mean that the sleeves wont play a part in my running.
My prefer use of the Legend Compression sleeves is for recovery. Recovery from races and from workouts. The best time to wear them are directly after a hard workout or even the day or two following a race. I used them for a couple days following the F3 Half and even wore them under my work clothes, hidden and out of sight.
Do you wear compression? Do you prefer sleeves or socks? When do you prefer to wear them?
