Come Join Me at the Volition Run!

During these hot days of summer, I like to think ahead to the fall, when half marathons and full marathon races are in full swing. Give me a half marathon or full marathon over a 5k any day.  I am sick of 5k races. The race I am most looking forward to is the Volition America Half Marathon.  It will be held in Chicago, IL on September 11, 2016!

This will be a chance to run a beautiful scenic course along the shores of Lake Michigan as the course starts in Grant Park before heading south along the lake before coming back to Grant Park for the finish. You get to run past landmarks such as the Shedd Aquarium, Soldier Field (Boo Bears!) McCormick Place, and the 31st Street Beach. There will be live bands playing at the finish!

The main reason I want to run this race is because of what Volition America represents.  Volition America was created by Major Dan Rooney, USAFR F16 Fighter Pilot and Founder of Folds of Honor Foundation.  Volution America’s goal is to raise funds to help military families of fallen and wounded soldiers pursue their passion through education. Did you know that 1.5 million dependents have had someone killed or disabled in just Iraq and Afghanistan? The sad part is, 9 out of 10 of these families do not receive any kind of federal education assistance.  Folds of Honor has been able to award over 10,000 scholarships across the country.

So who wants to join me in Chicago on September 11th? Right now (until September 1st) the half marathon is $70. Not ready for a half marathon?  Volition America offers a 5k.  The 5k is $30 (ends August 1st).  Still want to save a little more money? Use promo code BibRave to save 15%! Register here

I hope to see you at the Volition America Half Marathon in Chicago, IL on September 11, 2016!
